The Honourable Dale Last MP, Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, Minister for Manufacturing and Minister for Regional and Rural Development has decided to excise the township of Napranum and the former rodeo grounds (Lot 63 on WP50) from the existing locality of Mission River and give this area a new locality name of Napranum.

The Napranum Aboriginal Shire Council requested the change to reduce the confusion with property addressing in the Napranum township.

The locality boundary amendment will improve service delivery by reducing confusion caused by the previous locality configuration.

Localities – often known as suburbs – are administrative boundaries that are essential for the creation of valid addresses that can be uniquely and clearly identified. Valid addresses are critical to ensure the timely and accurate provision of postal, emergency, and other essential services.
