The Honourable Dale Last MP, Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, Minister for Manufacturing, and Minister for Regional and Rural Development, has decided to amend the locality boundaries of Petrie and Kallangur.
The locality boundary amendment will assist with the development and activation of The Mill at Moreton Bay Priority Development Area (PDA), by creating a sense of place and community cohesion. The locality boundary amendment will increase the size of Petrie to cover the majority of the PDA that is currently situated within the locality of Kallangur.
Localities – often known as suburbs – are administrative boundaries that are essential for the creation of valid addresses that can be uniquely and clearly identified. Valid addresses are critical to ensure the timely and accurate provision of postal, emergency, and other essential services.
The locality change will avoid confusion for future residents and businesses, as well as emergency services by establishing a single suburb name for a significant area of The Mill at Moreton Bay PDA prior to development.
